Manticore Concept

This is my Manticore concept for Project Copernicus during my time working at 38 Studios. The Manticore is a combination between a lion, bat, goat and scorpion. I tried to hit the classic hallmarks that define the Manticore's visual mythology while still giving this Manticore a unique look. It's always a fine line between what a viewer sees as new and interesting and what they see as TOO weird. I believe most successful designs need something familiar to relate to as well as something new and different.
