Personal Armor Study

This is another personal piece. I’ve been drawing a lot of stylized cartoon characters for Skylanders Trap Team and wanted to work on something totally different in my free time. I really have fun with the graphic filigree and find that armor is very satisfying to design. There are so many overlapping shapes and getting the shape language to flow is a fun challenge. While working at 38 Studios there was a class of warrior called the “Vindicator” that you could choose for your avatar and although this is not the same style as 38 Studios “Project Copernicus," it has the "Vindicator” styling we were looking to achieve. I had an earlier version from a while back that was a little more saturated so I went back in and gave it a little more mood.
